Get Results

So, I hear you have a New Years Resolution that you want to keep this year, hmm, interesting. What is so different about this one, what makes you think you can actually achieve it this year? Have you ever kept a resolution, ever? No? Oh my, just as I thought. In that case let's start at the very beginning.

To really bring about change in your life and/or accomplish a goal you must be in the right frame of mind.

Step 1: Imagine that you have already accomplished your goal. See yourself 20 pounds lighter. See that brand new car that you want to buy. See your relationship being exactly as you want it to be. Get the idea? If you can imagine it then it can be achieved.

Step 2 : When you imagine that you have achieved your goal be happy as you are imagining it! Feel the joy and put all that passion into achieving your goal. Passion is a MUST!

Step 3: Now comes the practical part! Make a plan and stick to it!!!! You must be disciplined and be willing to stick to whatever it is you want to achieve! If you want to lose weight, stick to the plan! If you want the new car, stick to saving! If you want to have a better relationship, work at it! You MUST invest in what it is you want to change. Please realize that the first 25-30 days are the hardest because that is how long it takes to change a habit. So, if you know that, just keep to your plan like a little soldier!!!!!

Step 4 : Have an accountability partner from the beginning! I think this is an incredibly important step! My husband lost 10 pounds and it was only because he worked with nutritionist, Elena Rybak. If he would have gone at it alone he would have never achieved his goal. When we moved to the States from Germany I was my husband's business coach and worked with him to learn the language, without this assistance he would have had a harder time to achieve all he did in such a short period of time.

Many people think hiring a coach or someone to help you achieve your goals is a luxury that they cannot afford. I think it is something that you cannot NOT afford to do, if you are really serious about achieving your goal and getting results! Whatever it is that you want to change or accomplish, you definitely need someone to assist you, cheer you on, and keep your motivation going. No one gets to the top alone! No one!

The golf , basketball and tennis pros all have a coach. Every CEO in America has a private coach! Every author has an editor. Even our President has his advisors. So, if you really, really want to keep that New Years Resolution, get an accountability partner or expert to help you out. The investment in yourself is PRICELESS!!

So, are you still wanting to get results in 2010? You do realize that you will have to work a bit for it and invest a bit in yourself, right? To help you start off I am willing to give you 2 FREE 20 minute coaching sessions! Yes, that is right, 2 FREE 20minute sessions! Bah Humbug

Just not in the holiday spirit this year? For some reason you cry at Christmas songs instead of feeling the joy? You yell at your kids while waiting for Santa instead of enjoying the moment? Has Ebenezer Scrooge moved into your heart and you just do not feel like celebrating?

Our emotions are our inner sensor for when we are on track in our life and when we are not. If you are feeling sad or are angry, these are signs that you are not in sync with the joy in your life. It means that something is not to your satisfaction and quite simply must be dealt with.

The first step is to realize what it is that is not working. We are masters of denial and usually only with the help of a professional can we find the core of the problem. When I work with clients in a personal life coaching session, I ask questions about where they are now in their life, I don't deal with the past like therapists do. We look at what is now in their present situation and what is working and what is not.

As a life coach I listen to what the client is saying and most importantly to what they are not saying, it is a powerful process. During this process my clients come upon some a-ha moments that literally blow them away.

You never know where coaching will take you and that is what I love about the process so much! You may start out wanting to get your life a bit more organized and then end up writing a best selling novel and becoming a millionaire!

So, before you can make any positive changes in your life, you need to know what it is that is in need of change. After you discover that, then you can make a plan of action and follow your plan diligently. You can change anything that is not working for you in your life and regain the joy that is yours to have and to hold.

Even Ebenezer Scrooge changed his life drastically and became the most beloved man in town. He discovered through the visits from the ghosts that his life was not what he wanted it to be and was living in misery. The Grinch also made changes and finally found joy in his heart after letting go of his anger and jealousies. These may be children's stories but there is a lot to be learned from the morals of the two stories. If you are not happy, then something is not right in your life, whether it be a viewpoint, a relationship, health issues, financial issues or any number of different issues.

You, too, can make changes in your life and find joy once again. I would be more than happy to help you make these changes that you desire.

"Develop a mind that is vast like water, where experiences both pleasant and unpleasant can appear and disappear without conflict, struggle, or harm. Rest in a mind like vast water." - Buddha

Rewrite your Life Story 8/26/09

As a life coach for mothers, I meet the most wonderful women at my workshops, at networking functions and when I am a guest speaker for various groups. Mothers are such incredible people and I love hearing about their "life stories".

Each of us has our own personal "life story". We star in it, we write the script, we direct it, we produce it and we even edit it at times! I know that some mothers feel like they are the victim of their own "life story" and they feel like they are being swept up and away by it, like riding the rapids.

What I tell my clients to practice, is to step back and look at your "life story" from a distance as if you were the audience watching it unfold on a large screen.

Ask yourself questions: "Is the heroine happy?", "What is working and what is not in her life?" or "What changes could she bring about to change the storyline?"

When we step back and view our life from a different perspective, things suddenly become clearer and sharper for us to see. The distance helps us to realize that we are responsible for all the choices we make in our life. Remember, we are the writer of the script, we have the power to change things that are not working!

If you are a mother and are frustrated or overwhelmed with your life, step back and take a look at what it is that is frustrating you or what is making you feel overwhelmed. Take a real good look at it and make a realistic plan to change these circumstances that trouble you.

Rewrite your "life story"!

Mamma Comes First

"School is starting next week! Whoohooooo!"
As a life coach for mothers that is all I am hearing from every mother that I meet at the moment. You can feel the euphoria spreading down the aisles of Publix, where you see mothers skipping with a light step. At Staples, where the parents are buying school supplies with a little giggle under their breathe. And last but not least at Target where the All Star Sneakers are being fought over for that all so holy first day back at school!

I know the mothers of kindergartners are going through a whole different scenario. We know that you are fighting back the tears at the thought of leaving that precious child of yours in the hands of that strange teacher that promises to watch out for your darling. You know deep in your heart that they cannot possibly do everything like you do. Believe me when I speak for all the other mothers whose kids are now past that age, you will survive and after about a week will be blessing that teacher with all your heart!

I know it may sound mean that we mothers are glad to have our kids out of the house and back at school but face it, we do need some time to ourselves as well! Yes, we give all we can to our kids and we want them to be safe, happy, healthy, educated and more "but" to be able to give our kids all of this, we must take care of ourselves FIRST!

This is my top priority as your mom-coach for this week!

Mothers must make their own well being their top priority.

When the flight attendant explains how to use the air masks in case of an emergency, what does she always says to adults who are flying with children ? To put the mask on yourself first!
The reason being, that if the adult passes out first then the child has no chance of surviving. To be able to give our children the best possible care, we mothers need to be in top shape physically, emotionally and mentally. We need to take care of ourselves first!

So, don't feel guilty that you are happy about having more time for yourself when your children are in school (some moms still have the house full with little ones, but they still do not get out of taking care of themselves as well!) because you will be doing a service to your children by being happier, healthier and mentally in a good place!

Nurture yourself and see the results in your happy children! Mamma comes first!

The Peaceful Path 8/5/09

"Follow the yellow brick road,
Follow the yellow brick road,
Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow the yellow brick road!" - Wizard of OZ

How I loved that scene out of the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy was in Munchkinland and Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, was telling her to follow the yellow brick road, so the Wizard could help her return home. It was so exciting, you could feel the suspense in the air because Dorothy had no idea what she would find on this path to Oz. Who would she meet, what perils would lie ahead, would she ever find the Wizard and would he help her home? That is a lot of anxiety for a little girl from a farm in Kansas.

We all know that uncomfortable feeling of being on unfamiliar ground? Being out of your comfort zone is surely a difficult thing. One thing Dorothy did know for sure though is that was that she wanted to go home where she was loved, happy and at peace!

Isn't that what we all want?
Isn't that the thing we all yearn most for in our life?
Don't we all just want to be loved, at peace and
happy?

Well, as we all know, Dorothy had many adventures on the yellow brick road on her journey home. She met friends such as the scarecrow, the tin man and the cowardly lion. She met scary creatures like talking trees, flying monkeys and the Wicked Witch of the West. This could be compared to our journeys in life, we meet good friends and some scary creatures along the way.

Returning home could be seen as the longing in each of us to return to our true selves, to the peace within us. Dorothy was searching for the way to go "home" and finally was told by Glinda to click her heels together 3 times and say,
" There is no place like home!" She had the power to go home the whole time she was searching, she just had to want it badly enough!

We, too, have the power to return "home" or to our inner peacefulness at any moment, we just need to choose to do so! No matter what paths we choose or what things happen to us, or even what our life looks like right now, our peace within us is always there if we choose to connect to it. Our inner joy is ever present if we allow it to be. We need to make our path no matter what it is, be the peaceful path!

Taking the peaceful path helps us:
-be grateful for what we have
-find love in every situation
-find the strength to let go of things in our life that are not working ang change them to better suit us
-create a life filled with peace and joy.

So every path we choose, (whether it be to stay at home with our children or to have a career "and" family) it can be the peaceful path.

It's not "which" path we choose to take, but rather "how" we choose to live our life at every moment on whatever path it is we choose to take.

Whether we are on the yellow brick road or at home in Kansas, we can be at peace if we so choose to.

In my next newsletter I will go deeper into how we can choose the peaceful path no matter what our choices are or what our life situation is. Until then try and make the effort of feeling the peace within you no matter what is happening in your life.

Follow your own personal yellow brick road and find your peace!

Focus On The Positive 7/26/09

"You do not attract what you want; you create what you focus on."
- Dr. David Krueger - MentorPath

After reading this quote, everything seemed so clear to me, all I needed to do was focus on the positive. How easy I thought. Well, not so much. My mind constantly slips back into fearful, anxious or even violent thoughts. It's as if the angel is on one shoulder and the devil on the other just like in the cartoons. But in real life it isn't funny whatsoever.

This dark voice in our head has been called many things, The Course in Miracles
describes it as the ego. It states that,

"The ego is quite literally a fearful thought."

So, if we create what we focus on and we focus on fearful or negative thoughts, we are creating a fearful and negative life. That is powerful stuff . Another important factor is not only what we think but what we say as well.

Joel Osteen wrote in his book,Your Best Life Now, "We get what we say- our words become self fulfilling prophecies. If you allow your thoughts to defeat you and then give birth to negative ideas through your words, your actions will follow suit."

How often have we said things like, " In this economy I will never get back on my feet" or "I'll have to deal with this problem forever" or even," We'll never pay up this debt!" If you send energy into those kinds of thoughts that is exactly what you will get.

In The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne, they showed a scene with Aladdin and the Genie, where the Genie said, "Your wish is my command!" So, if we say that we will never pay up our debt, guess what? That's right, we get our wish and we will never pay up our debt.

We need to monitor our thoughts and our choice of words. If we want to see positive changes in our lives, we need to focus on the positive.

How do we focus on the positive? It actually is a retraining of how we think! If you habitually think negative or fearful thoughts, you will have to catch yourself as you are doing it and refocus on something positive. This takes real discipline but does get easier with practice. Scientific studies have stated that it takes 25 days to break an old ritual or habit.

For myself, the easiest way to focus on the positive is to be TRULY grateful for what I have and give thanks. I find myself giving thanks hundreds of times a day, reminding myself of how truly blessed I am and what is really important in my life.

Remember, your thoughts are like boomerangs, what you send out is going to come right back at you!

Negativity ade! Let's all focus on the positive and enjoy life to it's fullest!

Conscious Living! What if..... 7/2/09

When you look at a cup, you know that you can hold liquids in it and the liquid will satisfy your thirst. You know that because you have learned that. As a baby you had no idea what a cup was and would have thrown it around as a ball or smashed it or heaven knows what.

What if..... we could be clean as a slate every time we encountered a situation in our life that has been difficult or trying for us? Instead of reacting like we usually do in a situation that just bugs us,
what if..... we could see the situation as if we are seeing it for the first time?
What if ....our minds would not constantly be bringing up past pictures of what happened in the past and then project those pictures onto our proposed outcome of the future?
What if.....we could be present in the moment?

What if....you could take a cup and see it for the first time, notice it's color, how heavy it is, the shape and so forth.
This exercise is believe it or not the beginning of conscious living. Of being present in your life instead of being a prisoner of your thoughts. Look at that cup every day as if you are seeing it for the first time and let that feeling flow into your life!
